Department of sexopathology and andrology

The major scientific trends are as follows: the study of pathogenesis, development of conservative and surgical methods to treat different forms of genital disturbances and male infertility; aged andrology.

The major scientific advances: there has been investigated the pathogenetic role of endocrine changes in prostatitis and prostatic tumors, hypogonadism, cryptorchism, various forms of genital dysfunction and male infertility; climacteric virile pathogenesis, genital disturbances in irradiated men and erectile dysfunction of vascular genesis and Peyronie's disease have been studied; there have been worked out classifications of genital disturbances and male infertility, and also diagnostic algorhythms and therapeutic complexes for sexological and andrological pathology.

The following was put into medical practice: individualized diagnostic complexes including clinical, instrumental, spermatologic, biochemical, hormonal, computer and other methods to examine patients of sexologic and andrologic type; therapeutic complexes of conservative treatment including psychotherapeutic, medicamental, physiotherapeutic (Intraton, Local negative pressure therapy, rectal electrostimulatoin), non-traditional (acupuncture, laser reflex therapy) methods of treatment, and also intracavernous injection of vasoactive preparations, subtransplantation of placental tissue, plastic surgery of testis); surgical methods for diagnosis and treatment of infertility (biopsy of testis, genitography, surgery of deferens vas, varicocelectomy); surgery in erectile dysfunction.
